Addicted to attention part 4 – reasons people struggle with vanity
Insecurity. Many obviously vain people come across as having it all together and having absolutely no problems. The truth is they’re dominated by insecurities. The reason they work so hard to look perfect is that they don’t like they way they look. They flaunt their past achievements because they’re afraid that’s all that makes them significant. And they ambush people with insults, giving the impression that they don’t like them, because they really don’t like themselves. What is ironic about this entire process is that although they love for people to notice them and they long for attention, they don’t want to really be discovered. They don’t want anyone to see behind their mask into their fears and failures. And they don’t want to expose their emotional state their social instability or the reality of their spiritual struggles.
We are shallow. The majority of people in our society are not very deep. They value appearance and protect their image above all ele. Those who are vain have adopted their systems and measures.
