Addicted to attention part 2 – An example

Bart was an egomaniac, and although everyone knew it, they liked him anyway. His obvious attempts to steal every conversation and turn it into his personal stage were entertaining, so his peers were willing to overlook his attention addiction for a season. However, his deeper relationships suffered as those closest to him began to realize his tendencies.
Bart was a spotlight junkie, and he would do whatever was necessary to keep it shining brightly on him. He fabricated stories on a regular basis because in his mind the merits of his life weren’t strong enough to hold everyone’s gaze. He used extreme flattery to win over the females in his life, and he always had a girlfriend. But because his ego demanded that he play the part of the knight in shining armor to every young lady, his dating relationships as his affections wandered.
Although the adults in his life were quick to notice his motivations and habits, he refused to face the facts. His masks became things of legend as he lost all credibility and his lies were exposed.
As a young man growing up with a foundation of faith, a solid church experience, and a family that encouraged spiritual growth, you’d think that he would have understood that his direction was both destructive and unbiblical. However, he is still caught in the same trap. He continues to play the same games as he aimlessly wanders through life looking for the approval of others. He ambles through each year still seeking the spotlight and the respect of those around him. The only problem is that people he wants to think well of him see right through his charade.
